UNO'S THANKS U.S. MILITARY WITH ONLINE SALUTE AND A DISCOUNT FOR ARMED FORCES WEEK
CEO video applauds service men and women and special offer gives all U.S. military 15% off their food bill May 16-19
BOSTON, MASS., May 11, 2011 - To pay tribute to all U.S. military men and women, UNO (www.unos.com), the casual dining restaurant with a focus on both indulgent and delicious and nutritious dining options, is encouraging everyone across the United States to join them in posting an online "thank you" to a special Uno's Facebook page and is giving all active and retired military personnel a discount during Armed Forces Week. Monday, May 16, through Thursday, May 19, 2011, all active and retired service men and women can dine any time of day, as many times as they like during the four day period, with anyone they choose and receive 15% off their entire food bill (alcohol is excluded).
Uno's has supported the military through programs coast to coast and is proud to add four special days of appreciation at all of their locations nationwide this year. Part of Uno's mission is to help its customers live life well and Uno's knows we have the privilege of doing so in the United States because of the sacrifices our armed forces have made to keep our country safe. Uno's balance of indulgent and delicious and nutritious food and drink humbly try to return the favor the way only the restaurant can - by giving service men and women choices to both treat themselves and treat themselves well. Serving up that balance at a discount helps spread the heartfelt hospitality for which Uno's is becoming famous to a segment of the population that deserves it the most.
"As a former officer in the U.S. Army, I know what it's like to focus on defending and protecting our great country, and I want to be sure we do our part to give back to those in uniform," says Frank Guidara, chief executive officer of Uno's and former First Lieutenant who served in Vietnam. "We want all service men and women to come in and let us take care of them. An environment of heartfelt hospitality paired with a discount helps us give back to those who risk everything for us."
Along with the discount, Uno's has proudly posted a video message from Mr. Guidara personally thanking all service men and women. It appears as part of a special tab on the company's Facebook page (www.facebook.com/UnoChicagoGrill) that encourages customers to post their own thank you notes.
Over 60 years ago, President Harry S Truman led the effort to create Armed Forces Day so Americans could honor all military personnel. Celebrations across the country now span the entire week.
The Uno's discount is available to all active and retired military personnel nationwide at any Uno's restaurant location.
