BOSTON-BASED UNO'S TO RECOGNIZE INDEPENDENCE DAY BY DONATING MEALS TO HOSPITALIZED SOLDIERS' FAMILIES
Fisher House to receive a free meal for every "buy one pizza, get one pizza free" coupon used through July 31 on Uno's grocery store and wholesale club pizzas
BOSTON, MASS., JUNE 29, 2011 - In recognition of Independence Day, Boston-based Uno's, the casual dining restaurant with a deep focus on intense flavor in both indulgent and delicious and nutritious dining options, will donate one meal to hospitalized soldiers' families staying at Fisher House Boston for every coupon redeemed for a free Uno's pizza available at grocery stores and wholesale clubs. The coupon is available at unos.com/freepizza through July 5.
The program is part of Uno's ongoing support of members of the military and their families. Fisher House Boston, a non-profit organization that assists military families with support and free housing near major military medical centers while their loved ones are being hospitalized, receives one meal everytime someone redeems the "buy one pizza, get one pizza free" coupon.
"We like to celebrate Independence Day by helping, in any way we can, those who contribute daily to the freedom we have as Americans," says Frank Guidara, chief executive officer of Uno's and former officer who served in Vietnam. "This offer is one way to do that, and to help make it easy for others to do the same. It's especially important to us because, as a Boston-based company, we will be helping our neighbors at Fisher House Boston."
"We are very appreciative of Uno's generosity," says Elizabeth St. Pierre, Manager of The Fisher House Boston, "Our facility is a home away from home for families who want to be near their loved ones and we count on support from companies like Uno's that really care about the military community and the critical services we provide. Uno's has provided ongoing support and we are grateful for it."
Uno's has a relationship with Fisher House Boston that is in line with the company's philosophy of providing heartfelt hospitality to its guests and communities. Uno's Dedham location donates hot pizzas twice a month to the guests staying at the facility which is on the grounds of the Veterans Administration Medical Center in West Roxbury, Mass. It has 20 suites and common areas including a kitchen, dining room and family room.
This program to honor the military for the 4th of July holiday was developed by Uno Foods, the retail division of Uno's that produces refrigerated and frozen Uno-branded and private-label Deep Dish and Artisan Thin Crust pizzas, entrees and appetizers sold in grocery and club stores, as well as foodservice products sold in airports, movie theatres, hotels, travel plazas, schools and stadiums.
The coupon can be redeemed until July 31 for pizzas sold at BJ's Wholesale Club, Big Y, Foodmaster, Price Chopper, Roche Bros., Sam's Club, ShopRite and Stop & Shop.
