UNO'S HOSTS TRIBUTE FOR TEACHERS AND GIVES THEM A BREAK DURING TEACHER APPRECIATION WEEKApril 28, 2011
Special social media salute encourages people to honor teachers who inspire them while Uno's restaurants give teachers across the US 15% off their food bill
BOSTON, MASS., April 28, 2011 - In a nationwide "thank you" to the women and men who shape us and our leaders, UNO (www.unos.com), the casual dining restaurant with a focus on both indulgent and delicious and nutritious dining options, is developing a special online "thank a teacher" site to encourage people nationwide to post a note or video to any teacher who inspired them. Alongside the tribute, from Monday, May 2, through Thursday, May 5, 2011, teachers can dine any time of day, as many times as they like during the four day period, with anyone they choose and receive 15% off their entire food bill (alcohol is excluded).
Uno's has a nearly 70-year history of heartfelt hospitality and this effort to ensure teachers across the U.S. feel appreciated is just another way the popular restaurant spreads that warmth into its approximately 150 communities coast to coast. Uno's will also post videos to kick off the site, a special section of its existing Facebook page (www.facebook.com/UnoChicagoGrill), which highlights restaurant employees thanking teachers who have impacted their lives.
"Our guests know we care. Recognizing Teacher's Appreciation Week is another way to show it," says Frank Guidara, chief executive officer of Uno's. "It also fits with our ongoing effort to 'adopt' schools across our system in ways that deepen our ties with the communities in which we live and operate. In addition, we just launched a new menu, so it's a great time to come in and try some of the new options which are a nice balance of classic indulgent items with new, delicious and nutritious choices."
This will be the 27th annual National Teacher Appreciation Week. The National PTA started the special celebration in 1984 to recognize teachers for their passion and skills. PTA events are held across the country each year to honor teachers at a local level.
The Uno's discount is available to all teachers nationwide at any restaurant location.
