Ike Sewell created Deep Dish Pizza in 1943 by combining authentic Italian recipes with impressive quantities of the finest meats, spices, vegetables and cheeses to build not just a snack, but a hearty meal.
So famous and perfected is Ike's recipe, it requires painstakingly detailed instructions to craft. Follow the life of an Original Deep Dish Pizza, available only at Uno Chicago Grill®:

FRESH FROM THE FARM
First, farm-fresh ingredients are hand selected by pizza artisans to meet the order of the guest. |
FULLY LOADED
The dough is laid in the pan to create Uno Chicago Grill's unique Deep Dish Pizza crust, with the sauce, cheese and other ingredients placed inside the pan. |
HOT STUFF!
Next, the pie is carefully placed into specially designed convection pizza ovens. |
SAY CHEESE
After being placed inside the oven, the ingredients begin to cook inside the pizza crust. The melting cheese creates a mouth-watering infusion of flavors. |
SHAPE UP
The cheese and ingredients begin to level inside the pizza. This is the point when the pizza begins to take shape, as the crust begins to fully cook, filling the restaurant with decadent smells. |
IT'S ALL ABOUT THE CRUST
As the crust turns golden, it takes on a pastry appearance while the ingredients are almost fully cooked. At this point in the process, smells from the kitchen begin to overwhelm the dining area. |
COOKED TO PERFECTION
The pizza is carefully removed from the oven in a magnificent, golden-brown state. |
THE PERFECT PIZZA
The last and most enjoyable step of the process is when the signature Chicago Deep Dish Pizza is brought to the customer's table and savored bite-by-bite. |
