First-Ever Bacon Cheeseburger Deep Dish Pizza Debuts at Uno®
BOSTON, (June 22, 2006) - It's a food match made in heaven, right up there with peanut butter and jelly, french fries and ketchup, and spaghetti and meatballs. For the first time, Uno Chicago Grill® has brought two of America's favorite foods together, with the introduction of the new Bacon Cheeseburger Deep Dish Pizza.
The ultimate in American food fusion, the Bacon Cheeseburger Deep Dish Pizza fills Uno's famous crust with hamburger, Cheddar and mozzarella cheeses combined with traditional burger toppings - ketchup, mustard and dill pickle. Add to that bacon, caramelized onion and plum tomatoes, and this pizza tastes like it just came off the backyard barbecue.
Favorite Foods Found Out
A recent survey conducted by Uno showed that pizza tops the list of America's favorite foods, chosen by 38 percent of Americans. Cheeseburgers aren't far behind - they are the number one choice of 18 percent. Only spaghetti had a slight edge over cheeseburgers for the number two spot, with 21 percent of the votes.
The results shouldn't come as a surprise, considering that more than three billion pizzas are eaten in the U.S. each year - that translates to about 350 slices of pizza eaten every second. And, the average American eats more than 66 pounds of ground beef per year - most of it served on a bun with a slice of cheese on top.
"When we ask our regulars what they love most about Uno, they always say our Deep Dish Pizza, of course, but also our terrific burgers," said Chris Gatto, Uno Chicago Grill's executive chef. "So we thought, let's bring these two favorites together in one delicious dish. No surprise - it's been a hit. People can't believe how much it tastes just like a cheeseburger."
Summer Sizzles at Uno
The new Bacon Cheeseburger Deep Dish Pizza is only one of many new menu items Uno has introduced to tempt tastebuds this summer. The Shroom Pizza®, a Deep Dish pie featuring marinated mushrooms, spinach, garlic, mozzarella and Romano cheeses, is making its return to the menu. Diners hungry for variety will also find:

Other new salads include the Simply Strawberry, combining sweet, ripe berries with feta cheese and walnuts; the Buffalo Bleu, topped with spicy Buffalo chicken tenders and cool bleu cheese dressing; the Ranch Chicken, with the Southwestern flair of tortilla strips, corn, Cheddar cheese and bacon; and the Chopstick, an Asian-tinged combo of grilled chicken, mandarin oranges, rice noodles, veggies and teriyaki vinaigrette.
- Sensational sips: Hot on the heels of Uno's popular Pomegranate Margarita comes the Pomegranate Mojito, a refreshing blend of pomegranate juice, mint, sugar, lemon juice, light rum and club soda. Cosmo lovers can try the new Peach Cosmopolitan, a new take on the classic cocktail with peach-flavored vodka, peach and tropical fruits and white grapefruit juice.
